Ling Bob J I And N School

Attendance

Here at Ling Bob School, we want all children to be successful in all areas of school life. As a school, we encourage children to arrive on time and attend regularly, as we know from our experience, that if a child has poor attendance and/or is regularly late to school that this has an impact on their emotional well-being as well as their academic progress.

Our target is also for all children to arrive on time for school and for them all to start their learning together.

Please ensure your child arrives to school on time, the following times for each Key Stage are listed below:

Nursery – Doors open 8.40am and  close 8.50am

Reception and KS1 – Doors open at 8.40am and close at 8.50am

KS2 – Doors open at 8.40am and close at 8.50am

When the doors are closed your child will have to enter school via the main entrance where they will receive a ‘late mark’.

Children should not be entering school through the main entrance unless their allocated door has already closed or unless prior agreement has been made with a member of staff.

If a child is persistently late and/or has poor attendance, then parents may be invited into school to meet with a member of the Pastoral Team and the Education Welfare Officer to discuss this and to make a plan of improvement. If improvements are not made then further action including prosecution could be taken.

Absence During Term Time

School discourage any unnecessary absences during term time including holidays and extended visits abroad, however, we do understand that there may be the rare occasion where an absence cannot be avoided.

The law states that you do not have the right to take your child out of school during term time. The local authority works with schools to reduce numbers of children missing school because of holidays in term time. If the leave of absences is 15 or more days then you will receive a penalty notice (this is £80 per child, per parent).

If you need to make a request for an absence from school during term time please complete the form below. These can also be collected from the school office.
